Its either a massive Italian translation gag that will end up having someone’s bed stuffed with a horses head. Or, he’s genuinely died. Sergio Marchionne, ex boss of Fiat Chrysler group as of today, has handed on the lead roll to Mike Manley. Mike Manley, a Brit oddly enough, who has been the head of the Jeep division for some time. And who is now the head of the entire FCA group. Mike Manley Has been very close to Mr Marchionne and his family and was selected by Sergio himself to take over the roll. Sergio Marchionne was due to step down in spring 2021, but that has been moved forward rather rapidly due to Sergio’s health.
A statement from FCA said: “Fiat Chrysler Automobiles communicates with profound sorrow that during the course of this week unexpected complications arose while Mr. Marchionne was recovering from surgery and that these have worsened significantly in recent hours. As a consequence, Mr. Marchionne will be unable to return to work.
Unable to return to work could mean he has actually died during the surgery. but were not buying this claim. According to his Wikipedia page of time of us checking. Sergio Marchionne died on the 23rd of July 2018 in Maranello, Italy. But this would have been reported as a completely different story if he had died. Instead of stepping down due to ill health. It would have been “Sergio Marchionne has died. Operations of Fiat Chrysler group to be passed on to Mike Manley.”
We have also heard that according to Italian media. Marchionne is “gravely ill in a Swiss hospital.” But as we dig deeper into the Wiki page. It says nothing on his death within the page. Only on the front Bio.
We can see how this news article from Bloomberg could translate badly.
The word ‘passed’ could translate really badly.
From what we have established, he has just stepped down and that someone either as a sick joke, or wrongly informed has edited the wiki page. It certainly makes the Crank Chamber gag of this week. We don’t believe you have died Mr Marchionne! So we wish you the best in the future and a we hope you recover from your operation soon!
Sergio is alive and well. His health has taken a turn for the worst over the passed 24 hours but is in the care in a hospital in Switzerland. His reported death on his Wikipedia Bio has been removed. Again, we hope he makes a full recovery.
